Our Foundation & History

SAFA Ethekwini was established as part of the South African Football Association’s regional structure to develop, govern, and promote football within the Durban metropolitan area. Founded on the principles of unity, inclusivity, and excellence, the region was created to ensure that football reaches every community — from grassroots to elite level.

Over the years, SAFA Ethekwini has grown into a pillar of football development, nurturing young talent, empowering coaches and referees, and creating sustainable pathways for both men’s and women’s football.
